Maybe just maybe I will get it together, be inspired by my daughter's blog and take this up again.

another day another THING - this one 7

It is a good day - so far... I am stupidstitious er I mean superstitious so I have to say so far or you KNOW what could happen. ANYwho - so it was a good day in class. I had 3 guests speakers/demos. We started with a discussion and demo of Ice cream and sorbet making, then moved on to basic knife skills and ended with 2 hours of the whole molecular gastronomy thing. This is an advanced pastry class so the really don't know how to use a knife, etc. We will see if the students thought it was worth it - I asked for honest feedback..

THING 7 - this is all about how we can all edit and look at a document without attaching it. I am using Google docs - ok so I am using google apps in all of my things - it is just easier - since I already have the whole gmail thing - and I like that. I started a file and am going to try it out with my class. I am asking them to go online and add comments about production. We will see how it works.

Just one more thing - I have enjoyed facebook since I joined - and now am a FARM TOWN fan - it appeals on all levels to me. It is a contest of sorts - things you need to do and collect and well ok I am a dorky geek - I admit it... happy????

Thing 6 and a cool July day.

Well first to the THING I am supposed to talk about. Thing 6 is all about find sources ie browsers- for new ways to find interesting things on the web. Yes folks the web has become TOOO large and unwieldy to easily or quickly find new sites of interest. So along comes sites that based on your interests, etc. finds them for you to look through. I chose Stumble! so far - eh? its ok - I really don't need a new way to search for entertainment. but I will keep trying it out ...
Maybe I don't need it because I have days like today. Starting off with reading the paper - it is that thing that some people get delivered to the door - works well for starting fires... But after that it was mostly outdoors in the cool cloudy day. THE dog and I went to Highland Park festival - she did sooo well - she was a little bored but behaved. We met Sarah and Milo there and went to listen to some music. I guess Burnie is not a live music fan - we were close and the music was loud.
so we traveled on... great day and ended with a long walk around Nokomis... It is SO great to have Saturday's off, even a cool one in July.

Hiking on the Prairie and Muddy dogs

I know this blog was set up to record thoughts about 16 things - but it has grown past that.... It was so great to have a nice day to go with sandwiches, THE dog and a friend to a nice park for a long walk. It was good but THE dog loves to go in the water, but with so little rain the lake was STINKY - ick... and of course she went in before she could be stopped.. and was covered in black mud. Needless to say now that we are home she has had a bath. I do love hiking, but coming back to the city makes me happy also.
So I am finished with Thing 5 and am moving on to thing 6 with the DIgg,etc sites. My mom has asked about Blogging-knew she would- and I am directing her to the 16 Things blog - if she can do it at 85 - then we know anyone can... she is a smart lady though.

I went back to Thing 1

I have stated this already - I am impatient - so I just said ok I am done with Thing 1 'cause I set up this blog. I was WRONG.. there was so much more to do with thing 1 - I loved setting up my avatar - my alternate person- yes I would love to be a surfer girl with spiky purple hair...
I must say that the directions were so great and easy to follow to do this - I am going to be a good little 16 thinger and read the whole way through and try to do it all... so stay tuned for my continuing adventures -
and oh yea - class went really well today! at least I think so...

First day new quarter and THING 3

The break was SO great that I even WANT to go back ... wow I guess that means I kind of like my job.. who'd a guessed??? Anyway the goal of thing 3 is to complete Online Communication.. I think I have that down, I must say I like gmail - it is easy to use and somehow looks more professional than hotmail-who came up with that name anyway? After my last blog I sent a group email out to family and friends telling them about my blog and I actually have a follower (thanks Steve). Having followers here or on Twitter or friends on facebook - it kind makes you feel like you have validation... or something psyco-logical like that.
So I am down with thing 3 and ready to teach Advanced Pastry today. I must say that I have put a lot of work into making this a better course this quarter. I have 2 great groups of students in it (I had them last quarter in Adv. Bake) and they "push" me to do my best... Ain't that great...

Discovering what things really mean

Well this could be taken more than one way. I have a dog and trying to find out what she is saying when she does the heavy sigh thing, the jumping up is the easiest to decipher. Well what this is really about is now I know what RSS is. Because of this 16 things thing I now have my own google reader with 8 feeds. Some are the typical news blogs from MPR- my fav., and KARE11 but then I also added my kids Flickr sites. and speaking of what things mean - how is it that there are words that are spelled EXACTLY the same but the MEANING is so different. No wonder folks like me can't speel or spell or what ever.
